About Us
Motswedi is a Savings and Credit Co-operative Society and was established by the staff of the Department for Co-operative Development and Botswana Co-operative Bank on the 19th November 1985. Society was formed primarily to create a pool of savings and enable the members access to credit (loans) at affordable interest rates. Motswedi SACCOS as a Savings and Credit Co-operative Society has a common bond which clearly spell out as to who can join the Society. The common bond was later on the 23 November 1994 extended to the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture and to Ministry of Trade and Industry on the 17th of January 2005 and lately to all seconded officers to the two ministries and members of the Society who have resigned from civil Service. This led to the growth of the society to its current membership of 3501. It was a period to be proud of and time to take stock of the achievements, challenges, opportunities, and possibly to chart the way forward.

I got a total of 4 loans from the society and I have never acquired any loan from a commercial bank. I got the first loan of P 30,000.00 to complete my tuckshop project and later on after a year got another one amounting to P 40,000.00. I added this amount to P 65,000.00 I have saved to improve the tuckshop structure.
Later on, I applied for a third loan amounting to P 80,000.00 and used it to purchase a commercial plot in GoodHope, which was in 2014.
